$17,500 over 9 months
The Department provides several Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantships each year. The GTA stipend for 2007-2008 is $17,000 for nine months of service plus a tuition waiver for a normal graduate course load. GTA duties usually include teaching introductory-level undergraduate course laboratories and paper grading, for up to 20 hours per week. As a member of the Rocky Mountain Space Grant Consortium, the department awards NASA graduate fellowships for study of space-related topics. Some graduate research assistantships may be available in cooperation with several nearby Federal laboratories.
